Engineer and Arranger Ed Cherney


BIO:

Grammy and TEC award-winning producer/engineer Ed Cherney is especially known for his work with a wide array of artists, among them Iggy Pop, Bonnie Raitt, Sting, Eric Clapton, Jann Arden, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones, to name just a few. Cherney is also highly respected by his peers; thus far in his career he’s amassed five Grammy nominations and three wins. He took home the coveted “Best Engineered Album” award for Bonnie Raitt’s Longing In Their Hearts—a year in which he, remarkably, recorded and mixed three out of the five albums nominated in that category. He has also been honored with seven TEC award nominations and 5 wins, as well as three Emmy nominations. A founding member of the Music Producers Guild of America (now the Producers and Engineer’s Wing of The Recording Academy). Cherney has also been Governor of the L.A. Chapter of the Recording Academy. Ed Is also one of the founders of META (Music Engineer’s Technology Alliance), a group of esteemed producers and engineers dedicated to advocating music and technology excellence and educational initiatives. He also serves on the board of directors at McNally Smith College and sponsors a scholarship in his name at The Berklee School of Music. Recent projects include mixing Don Felder (Eagles) Road To Forever, recording, mixing and co producing Robben Ford’s Bringing It Back Home. Ed has also recently mixed Iggy and the Stooges just released album Ready To Die, and Eric Burdon’s Till Your River Runs Dry. He has also just completed Love for Levon, an all star Levon Helm tribute concert video, and just finished producing, recording and mixing the main title track, Nothing Can Stop Me Now, for the Disney film, Planes.
